Cologne – The window front of the main building of the University of Cologne , on the side facing the university meadow, was widely sprayed with red paint on Thursday morning (January 11th): Unknown people carried out a paint attack on Thursday night.
The words could be read there: “No podium for genocide. Free Gaza” („Kein Podium für Genozid. Free Gaza“). In response to a request from the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, a police spokesman said that the university’s security service had informed the police in the morning. According to the police spokesman, charges of damage to property and incitement to hatred were filed.
“State security is now investigating, as is usual with pro-Palestinian demos, whether there is initial suspicion of incitement against Israel,” said the spokesman. At Albertus-Magnus-Platz there was also paint around the statue. Green Party politician Martin Herrndorf had brought the incident to the attention of the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”.
