Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel designated Deputy Foreign Minister Irena Dimitrova as new National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism, Gabriel’s Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday.
The National Coordinator, an office established by the Council of Ministers in 2017 and assigned to a deputy foreign minister in November 2022, is tasked with achieving consistency in combating antisemitism, actively liaising with the national coordinators of European Union member states, and cooperating with the international organizations, including the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
“Bulgaria prioritizes countering discrimination, including the manifestations of antisemitism, and this country remains committed to the subject in multilateral diplomacy and in bilateral cooperation,” the press release said.
