Germany – Saxony supports eight projects to reduce antisemitism

Saxony

In order to take action against antisemitism, the Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs wants to fund eight new projects with around 190,000 euros. “Antisemitism has no place in Saxony or any other part of the world,” said Social Affairs Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) in a press release

Accordingly, the projects pursue different approaches – from dealing with conspiracy myths to enabling argumentative resistance. The projects are to be funded with up to 40,000 euros per year until the end of 2024.

“As long as we are dealing with anti-Jewish words, actions and acts of violence, we will oppose them,” said Köpping. In the 2023/24 double budget, an additional 200,000 euros are available for the “Cosmopolitan Saxony” (Weltoffenes Sachsen) state program to fund projects that, among other things, develop approaches to reducing antisemitism. The state program “Cosmopolitan Saxony” promotes projects that strengthen the democratic culture and the free democratic basic order in Saxony.
