2021 Antisemitism report in Argentina

DAIA’s Center for Social Studies presents a new edition of the Annual Report on Antisemitism in Argentina, a publication that it has been producing on a sustained basis for 25 years.

This study is an essential tool that allows us to become aware of, quantify, and analyze the anti-Semitic expressions and events that have occurred during 2022. Similarly, we can notice by 14 Report on anti-Semitism in Argentina 2022 which channels those channels circulate most frequently expressions (social networks, websites, messaging services such as WhatsApp and Telegram, etc.).

During the year 2022, the DAIA received, through its complaints table, 427 exposures for acts of anti-Semitism, 13% less than those received during 2021.

Among the determining factors is the increase in demonstrations of violence around the soccer World Cup held between November and December in Qatar and the manifestations of hate have intensified, especially in the last quarter of 2022.

The advance of the Internet and social networks has opened the door to the spread of hate speech in a way that was unthinkable decades ago.

The digital space has been contaminated with expressions of violence that sometimes translate into acts of physical aggression in the face-to-face space. The new reality in regards to social communication, where digitality occupies a central role, requires new strategies to combat the spread of hate speech and other forms of violence that find fertile ground in this area to develop.
