Jens M. (46) appeared twice this year at the Jewish cemetery on Venloer Str. in Bocklemünd. Twice the unemployed intended to damage the resting place. Because of the allegation of serious arson, the man from Cologne had to appear before the district court on Monday.

On May 11, he is said to have thrown a Molotov cocktail at the washhouse where the dead are being prepared for burial, while shouting antisemitic slogans. Thanks to witnesses who were able to quickly put out the flames, only minor damage was caused.

Jens M. managed to escape, but returned on June 8th. This time he threw cobblestones in the direction of the cemetery.

Because he was diagnosed with a mental illness after his arrest, he is now to be housed permanently in a clinic. M. only wanted to comment on the allegations on the second day of the hearing.
