Moscow – Shimon Briman, an Israeli journalist covering the Ukrainian issues, posted on his Facebook page a selection of headlines on Russian news sites dedicated to the conversation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with participants in the American Jewish Committee Global Forum on June 13.
The headlines, not only highlight Zelensky’s Jewish origins, but also perpetuate the common antisemitic perception in Russia that Jews control the United States.
The popular newspaper Komsomolskaia Pravda published two headlines: “Zelensky asked money for the Bandera people from the Jews” and “Zelensky asked US Jews to increase anti-Russian sanctions”. The website explicitly states that “Zelensky is persuading American Jews to wage a total war in Russia.”
