Almost a month after the arson attack on a Jewish cemetery in Cologne, the police arrested a suspect: a 46-year-old homeless man from the Neuss area, whom a witness recognized. He is said to have thrown an incendiary device against a cemetery building. A witness managed to put out the flames with a bucket of water.

Yesterday, the suspect appeared again at the cemetery and threw stones at the façade. The witness alerted the police and held the stone thrower down until the police arrived. The perpetrator’s motive is unclear.
