After a fire at the Jewish cemetery in Vogelsang, the Cologne police are now looking for the alleged perpetrator. According to witnesses, on the evening of May 11, the man set off an incendiary device on the outer wall of the cemetery.

When the suspect left the scene of the crime, he made antisemitic and anti-American statements, the NRW police reported the statements of witnesses on their search page. A political background to the crime cannot therefore be ruled out.

A man who saw the incident put out the fire. There was only soot in the wash house of the cemetery. According to witnesses, the suspect is about 1.90 meters tall, has a slim build and has a short, dark beard.

In addition, the alleged arsonist is said to have been wearing a dark green cap, dark, holey jeans and a long-sleeved, dark top. According to the Cologne police, the suspect can be assigned to the homeless milieu based on his appearance.
