Germany – FC Nürnberg officially adopted the IHRA working definition of antisemitism

The Nürnberg football club officially adopted the IHRA working definition of antisemitism. The club is one of the most successful clubs in the Germany. It also has sections for boxing, handball, hockey (inline skater hockey and ice hockey), rollerblading and ice skating, swimming, skiing, and tennis.

At the signing ceremony, the club’s Commercial and Sports Directors highlighted that they are doing all they can to combat antisemitism in society and that the acceptance of the IHRA definition of antisemitism is an important milestone for the active fight against antisemitic prejudices in society.

Niels Rossow, Commercial Director of 1. FC Nürnberg, said: “We are doing all we can to combat antisemitism in society. With projects such as the “Jenö Konrad Cup” and the club seductions, together with our fans, employees and partners, we send a strong signal against any form of exclusion. Be open, stay open – we are all called upon to remain vigilant.”

Sport board member Dieter Hecking emphasized at the signing: “The acceptance of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism is an important milestone for the active fight against antisemitic prejudices in our society – also in our Max Morlock Stadium. Together with our mission statement ‘The Club. The living.’ the working definition of antisemitism reflects the values ​​we stand for.”
