The Baden-Württemberg’s state parliament voted by a large majority in favor of a ban on anti-Jewish and antisemitic demonstrations in the squares of the old synagogues.
Greens, CDU, SPD and FDP voted on Thursday for a joint motion for a resolution that advocates the special protection of Jewish memorial and meeting places. Assembly authorities and the police must be made aware of how to deal with anti-Israelite and antisemitic assemblies. The AfD parliamentary group also approved the application, but some AfD MPs abstained or voted against it.
With a motion for a resolution, the state parliament makes its position on certain political issues clear. Resolutions are not legally binding.
