Madison, WI – Eggs hurled at the UW Hillel Foundation on Tuesday night are expected to cost thousands of dollars to clean up, staff told the Madison Police Department.
Staff at the organization that supports Jewish students reported the damage on Tuesday night, according to MPD’s report.
Hillel security cameras show eggs hitting the center around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, striking the higher floors of the building.
Police noted no arrests have been made yet. MPD also alerted its Hate Crimes Task Force.
University of Wisconsin- Madison explained in a statement that it has reached out to Hillel leadership and is offering support to students. The university also condemned antisemitism, violence and harassment.
“Hillel is a center of life for UW–Madison’s Jewish students and community,” the university stated. “The organization engages students, cultivates a Jewish community, develops leaders, complements the classroom and embodies Jewish values.”
The motive of the egging is unknown, UW-Madison added.
