Sweden – “Anti-Israel” protesters chant slogans at synagogue on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Stockholm – On 27/1, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, a memorial service was held in Stockholm’s Great Synagogue for the victims of the Holocaust. In connection with the memorial, 15-20 people demonstrated outside the synagogue, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “label Israel a terror”, “Israel murderer” and “butcher of small children”.

The people who demonstrated outside the synagogue appear to belong to “Together for Palestine”, one of the organizers of the large pro-Palestinian demonstration that took place in Stockholm earlier that day under the slogan “Never again for anyone”. The day after the big demonstration, posts were published on the group’s Instagram account and Facebook page where, among other things, wrote that they marched through the streets of Stockholm “in the light of the day for the victims of the Holocaust” and “as a united voice against anti-Semitism and racism” to “draw attention to the dark chapter of history and stop another genocide”.

“Together for Palestine” itself also published a video from the smaller demonstration outside the synagogue where people could be seen entering the memorial service. The film has now been removed, but SKMA had time to see the content before it was deleted. In addition to the above-mentioned slogans, “crush Zionism” was also chanted, a slogan which in many cases means that the state of Israel must be abolished or “crushed”.
