USA – Man arrested after Holocaust memorial vandalized in Greensboro park

Nile Christian Harvey

A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the vandalism of a Holocaust memorial in LeBauer Park last week.

Nile Christian Harvey, 22, was charged with ethnic intimidation and injury to personal property, according to a news release from the Greensboro Police Department.

A monument entitled “She Wouldn’t Take Off Her Boots,” which was inspired by the memories of thousands of Jewish women forced to strip before being shot to death in Latvia in 1941, was vandalized with a swastika Dec. 8.

As it indicated in its title, the statue is a homage to a moment of defiance and dignity in the face of atrocity. The swastika was removed by city workers.

It’s unknown if Harvey has retained an attorney at this time.
