USA – Approved by Congress: Rescinding federal funding for college campuses that give a platform to antisemitism

The US House of Representatives

The US House of Representatives approved an amendment to the Labor, Heath and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) that prohibits any academic institution from authorizing, facilitating, providing funding or otherwise supporting events that promote antisemitism on campus.

The amendment to the law was approved by a majority of 373 votes in favor and 54 against, with most of the opponents being progressive democratic representatives.

The amendment comes in response to the increase in antisemitic incidents and the attempt to take harsher measures against pro-Palestinian student organizations that are behind the huge demonstrations across the country.
