Greece – A sequence of antisemitic incidents in Volos

Volos – The barrage of antisemitic attacks by mindless people outside Israeli apartments in Volos and in the apartment building where the POST offices are housed continues, through which the issue that has caused concern and insecurity among members of the city’s Israeli community has been highlighted.

Two new incidents were added to yesterday’s three incidents, outside apartments in apartment buildings where Israelis live in the center of the city, one on Spyridis Street and one on Topali Street.

As is known, until the day before yesterday there had been three different attacks in the city. In an apartment building on Koumoundourou street, perpetrators formed the star of David and the swastika on the wall of an Israeli apartment and wrote “Jews = Nazis”.

In another apartment building on Riga Feraou Street, they carved the Star of David on the wall with a key, while in a shop on Iolkou Street below the offices of the Magnesia Regional Unit, they also wrote antisemitic slogans.

Yesterday, in addition to the apartments of the Israelis, the area of the apartment building where the offices of the POST OFFICE are housed were also targeted. At the entrance of the apartment building, next to the elevator area, brainless people painted the star of David with a blue marker and next to the swastika.

The cases in Volos are increasing, while the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues. However, it is estimated that it is not something organized that inspires concern.

On the contrary, the Israeli Community of Volos, according to its president, Marcel Solomon, seems to have received hundreds of phone calls and messages of support in recent days. “We are Greek citizens”, repeats Mr. Marcel Solomon.

Information indicates that in the last period of time there have been patrols and guarding by the Police of the Jewish Synagogue and also of the offices of the Israeli Community of Volos.

Demonstrations of anti-Semitism have been recorded more and more recently in other countries as well. Incidents targeting Jewish communities have taken place in the past month in many Western countries.
