France – Antisemitic graffiti on educational establishments in Strasbourg

Strasbourg – Antisemitic graffiti were discovered on the walls of several schools in Strasbourg, we learned from a police source on Friday.

An inscription of an antisemitic nature, “several swastikas as well as a Jewish star” were affixed to a wall of an elementary school in the Esplanade district, said a police source.

Another swastika was also seen at a college in the same area. On Thursday, another tag indicating “Free Palestine” was discovered on a high school in this neighborhood, it was added, confirming information from the regional daily Les Latest News of Alsace (DNA).

Investigations are underway, it was said. Observations were made by the technical and scientific police and the study of video surveillance cameras is underway, according to the same police source.

These inscriptions sparked condemnation from several Strasbourg politicians.

“Antisemitic tags were discovered this morning in Strasbourg. I condemn these abject words and acts with the greatest firmness and point out that they constitute crimes,” said the environmentalist mayor of Strasbourg, Jeanne, on X (ex-Twitter). Barseghian.
