Gigi and Bella Hadid’s father, Mohamed, posted an infographic to Instagram Saturday, comparing the Israeli government to Nazis.
In the since-deleted post, the Palestinian real estate developer added his own two cents in the caption, writing, “… Both [Nazis and Israel] added and labeled the victims as Terrorists.. regardless of their peacefulness of other activities. Some Palestinians and some Jews even changed their names.”
The infographic, whose creator is unknown, included a side-by-side comparison of what they claimed Israel and Nazis had in common, including that the two “expelled millions from their homes” and “enforced collective punishments.”
Mohamed, who fathers three children in addition to his two supermodel daughters, has been outspoken about his stance on the ongoing conflict in Gaza since Hamas made its first strike on Oct. 7.
On Oct. 20, he stated via Instagram that “nothing [has] changed” since he and his parents were also refugees.
“I was 9 days old when I became a refugee to the Syrian borders,” Mohamed, 74, wrote at the time.
Gigi has also spoken out about the bloodshed continuing to unfold, calling the conflict an “unjustifiable tragedy” for both Israelis and Palestinians.
“The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the ‘Free Palestine’ movement,” she wrote on Oct. 10.
“While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person.”
Soon after, Gigi also reshared an infographic to her Instagram Story, also reposted by her dad, which read: “There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians.
“Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas.”
However, the Israeli government didn’t take too kindly to her re-post and decided to condemn the 28-year-old online.
“There is nothing valiant about Hamas’ massacre of Israelis,” their respective infographic read. “Condemning Hamas for what is is (ISIS) is not anti-Palestine and supporting Israelis in their right against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do.”
The government-ran Instagram page went on to scold Gigi, rhetorically asking if she is “fine with turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes?”
The conflict in Gaza between Israelis and Palestinians has been ongoing and widely debated for nearly half a century now.
Since attacks broke out earlier this month, thousands of Palestinians and Israelis have died on both sides.
While the first strike in years was made by the terrorist-deemed organization Hamas, it is widely debated who, if anyone, is in the right amid this very nuanced war.
