Mount Pleasant, S.C. – The Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) has released the incident report for the distribution of antisemitic flyers this week.

According to the MPPD, officers responded to North Smokerwise Way on Oct. 24 in reference to a suspicious package. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) advised the package was not an explosive, but contained antisemitic material.

Police say the package was a small sealable plastic bag containing antisemitic flyers that were weighed down with what appeared to be smoker pellets. The flyers were different, but consistent in their content, and frequently referenced a hate website.

Every driveway in the Planters Pointe neighborhood appeared to contain one of the flyers, according to the MPPD. Also appearing to be affected were Rivertowne, Bees Crossing, Brickyard, Fulton Hall, and the Colonnade. Approximately 500 or more of the packages were collected by responding officers.

Police say a resident at Linder Lane provided a ring video of the individual’s vehicle responsible for the distribution of the packages. The vehicle appears to be a black sedan, although the make and model are not clear due to the headlights and tail lights distorting the image. There appears to be one driver, with a passenger throwing the packages out the car window onto each driveway.
