Germany – Israeli flag burned at Aachen city hall

Aachen – The Israel flag, which the Aachen city region had hoisted as a sign of solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack against Israel, was taken down from the mast and partially burned. Employees of the StädteRegion noticed the incident around 7:00 a.m. and called the police.

City Region Councilor Dr. Tim Grüttemeier: “We stand firmly on Israel’s side. We know that antisemitism also exists in the Aachen city region and have been campaigning against it for a long time. And yet it is shocking that the hatred is so great and that a flag is burned in front of our house in the middle of Aachen. We will not accept this and I say very clearly: There is no place for anti-Semitism in the city region.” The administration reported the incident immediately. The criminal police were informed and took up the matter. State security is investigating.
