Germany – 105 antisemitic incidents in 2023 related to the Nazi era

So far this year, the Research and Information Center for Antisemitism (RIAS) in Bavaria has registered 105 incidents relating to the extermination of European Jews under National Socialism.

“Antisemitic fantasies of annihilation” are still widespread today, RIAS announced on Wednesday in Munich. Since it was founded in 2019, RIAS has documented almost 800 incidents that endorse, deny or downplay the Holocaust or ward off memory of the crimes in an antisemitic way. 59 of the incidents were registered at educational institutions.

Most such cases within a year were reported to RIAS in 2021, namely 250. In the previous year there were 215. However, one assumes a high number of unreported cases, the actual number is likely to be many times higher, said a spokesman.
