Italy – General Roberto Vannacci fired after homophobic and antisemitic remarks in book

general Roberto Vannacci

Rome – Two weeks after his book titled ‘The World Upside Down’ was released, Italian general Roberto Vannacci has been removed from his military post and has sparked a national debate on the limits of free speech.

In his book, which has now reached number one on Amazon Italy’s bestsellers list, he takes aim at environmentalists, leftists, feminists, Jews and the unemployed.

The holocaust? “There has been but this does not qualify the Jewish religion as protected”

In his book he says homosexual men are not normal and claims there is an “international gay lobby” trying to brainwash the world. He also appears to question whether Black people can be Italian, referring to Paola Egonu, an Italian volleyball international born in Italy to Nigerian parents.

The Italian Army distanced itself from the book, saying it had not reviewed the text before it was published.
