Egypt – Jewish model Shay Zanco ‘kicked out’ of Egypt hotel ‘because she was Israeli’

Cairo – A top Israeli model was ‘kicked out’ of an Egyptian hotel due to her nationality.

Shay Zanco is one of Israel’s most successful models and regularly works with Vogue and Victoria’s Secret. She has over 180,000 Instagram followers and lives between Tel Aviv and London.

However, during a recent trip to Egypt, she was escorted out of her hotel after the owners found out she was Israeli.

Zanco was invited by rapper Travis Scott to accompany him at his concert in the country, which was later cancelled.

According to Walla Celebs, Zanco explained she had already arrived in the country when it was announced that the concert was cancelled. So, she decided to do some sightseeing for several days.

After one day, Zanco’s hotel found out she was Israeli and when there was a moment when she was not accompanied by Travis Scott’s staff, she was asked to leave the hotel immediately.

Zanco said: “I was very stressed and felt really humiliated.

“In the four years I’ve been [in the spotlight], I’ve never felt antisemitism or faced any problems because I’m Jewish and Israeli.

“This time it was something different.

“I left the hotel straight to the airport and caught the only flight there was to Paris, even though I had a photo shoot in Barcelona.”

According to Egyptian media, the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry’s Chamber of Hotel Establishments have carried out an investigation into the matter.

In a statement, they said the hotel was found to be unlicensed for tourism and the necessary measures would be taken against the premises in accordance with the country’s Hotel Establishments Law.

They pointed out that there are no rules from the Ministry of Tourism or the local authorities to prevent any nationality from entering hotels.
