ccording to a study, “Antisemitism. Old danger with new faces” antisemitism in Germany is currently becoming louder, more aggressive and more self-confident. “As is so often the case in times of crisis, the hostility towards Jews is again more open and radical,” says the analysis published by the Otto Brenner Foundation in Frankfurt. “Antisemitism never went away after the Holocaust and is always being re-learned,” explained the author of the study, Michael Kraske.
The author, Michael Kraske analyzes how ubiquitous the modern variants of antisemitism, to avert guilt and with reference to Israel – are and how difficult it is for many to recognize and condemn anti-Jewish resentment. A frightening lack of competence to act in educational institutions, in security authorities and in the cultural sector becomes apparent. In addition to a critical picture of the situation, the working paper shows how important it is to listen to the perspectives of those affected and what structural reforms the fight against anti-Semitism urgently needs.
