Turkey – Demonstrators against Israel with a Star of David combined with a swastika

The clashes on the Temple Mount led to angry reactions from the Palestinians not only in Israel, but also in the world. Tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday) large demonstrations took place in front of the Israeli embassy in Ankara and the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. The demonstrators accused Israel of “brutal and murderous behavior” and waved protest signs – among them, the Nazi party flag with a Star of David and a swastika integrated into it.

“Israel’s actions are an attack against human dignity, justice, morality and freedom,” one of the protesters told Reuters. “I think all people should condemn this. We are here to express that Muslims are not alone.” Another protester added: “As Muslims, we see the vandalism that takes place in Israel, the murderous brutality of Israel every year – and we bear witness to this with sadness.”

The protester added: “We strongly condemn the atrocities committed last night (at Al Aqsa Mosque) – especially the evil acts of the Israeli police against all Palestinian men and women.” The dozens of protesters who gathered in front of the embassy waved Turkish and Palestinian flags for several hours and called for an “immediate stop to the violence that broke out in the al-Aqsa compound.”

“We gathered here today to oppose Israel with our hearts and words from afar because that’s all we can do,” protester Khalil Yilmaz emphasized to Reuters. “We are here to say that Israel is only a country on paper, that has no sovereignty.”
