A fan wearing a shirt with a reference to Adolf Hitler is banned for life from attending Lazio matches by the Roman club.

Authorities reviewed security camera footage from inside the Stadio Olimpico after pictures of the fan wearing a Lazio shirt with the name “Hitlerson” and the No. 88, which is a numerical code for “Heil Hitler”, circulated on social media following Lazio’s 1-0 win over Roma in the city derby on Sunday.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the man has been identified thanks to CCTV cameras at the Stadio Olimpico. He is a Lazio fan from Germany who was known to the Police because of a previous incident during another Derby della Capitale, dating back to more than ten years ago.

It was the year 2009 when the man was sued following a pitch invasion at the Stadio Olimpico during a Serie A game between Roma and Lazio.

Two more fans from Romania who made a Nazi salute during Sunday’s derby have reportedly been identified by Police and were punished with DASPO, meaning they have been banned from Italian stadiums, although the suspension is not believed to be permanent.

Lazio says the three fans “have nothing to do” with supporting the club and “have shown forms of discrimination and antisemitism.”

Lazio released an official club statement on Tuesday, condemned the antsemitic incidents occurred during the derby last weekend.
