USA – Livingston Township council adopts IHRA antisemitism definition

Livingston Township
Livingston Township

A resolution adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) “Working Definition of Antisemitism” was unanimously adopted during Monday’s Livingston Township Council meeting as part of the mayor and council’s ongoing efforts to condemn and combat anti-Semitism within the community and beyond.

In May 2016, the IHRA adopted a Working Definition of Antisemitism that has since become “the internationally recognized, authoritative definition of antisemitism for use by governments and international organizations,” according to the council’s resolution.

The resolution also calls upon the township clerk to ensure that the definition is available as an educational resource for the Livingston Board of Education (LBOE), the Livingston Police Department and other agencies responsible for addressing antisemitism and other forms of discrimination in the Livingston community.
