Watertown, SD – Watertown Police say they have received a couple dozen reports of antisemitic literature being dropped in yards across the city.
The literature has been packaged in plastic bags filled with a fine gravel and touts a movie titled “Europa: The Last Battle.” The literature also laments the worldwide influence of the Jewish people.
Watertown Police Capt. Steve Rehorst said there is no crime involved, other than littering, unless the intended recipients are being targeted or harassed because of their background.
“Right now, it appears to just be a random scattering of the literature, and not specifically aimed at anybody,” Rehorst told KXLG News. “We want people to let us know if they find this stuff on their property so we can keep can eye on things, but right now, the only crime would be littering.”
Rehorst added that this type of literature is not welcome in Watertown. “We just don’t want this in our community,” he said. “That’s not what we’re about.”
