269 right-wing extremist acts were recorded in Austria in the first half of 2022.
This is less than in the same period of the previous year (342), but more than from January up to and including June 2020 (253). Most incidents occurred in Upper Austria, followed by Vienna. Among them, 15 antisemitic acts were registered, and one Islamophobic. The number of people who were reported for violating the Prohibition Act is high, namely 331. In 136 cases, the perpetrator is unknown.
The Prohibition Act prohibits the founding or supporting of associations or parties that carry on the National Socialist ideas or ideology, and any form of endorsement, denial, or belittlement of the Holocaust or other crimes of the Nazi regime.
