In view of the Congressional Elections, Italy Coordinator for the fight against antisemitism at the Prime Minister’s Office Milena Santerini shared a note in which she invites all political forces to join the National Strategy for the fight against antisemitism.

The text underlines that “this commitment represents an essential challenge in the general interest of the whole country and an indispensable task for the democratic stability, social cohesion and peaceful coexistence of our society”, as well as the “recognition of the responsibilities of the fascist regime in the racist laws of 1938, with the subsequent Nazi-fascist persecutions, and the firm distancing from the legacies of this past ”.

The note from Prof. Santerini was addressed to “all political forces”.

Based on the Operational Definition of Antisemitism (2016) and the Document Recognizing and Combating the Distortion of the Shoah (2021) of the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance), the Strategy calls for the rejection of all forms of antisemitism with particular attention to denial, revisionism, trivialization, derision and distortion of the Shoah, as happened, for example, during the “no vax” demonstrations, in which the Shoah was often associated with the vaccination campaign and the obligation of the Green Pass.

“This antisemitism, drawn from ancient mythologies, feeds on a conspiratorial mentality that tends to attribute all the evils in the world to the Jews, including the Covid-19 pandemic. According to this form of antisemitism, Jews, as individuals or collectively, are accused of having control of world finance, the media, banks or other institutions. Sometimes this antisemitic view considers Jews as globalists who conspire to replace citizens of a country with immigrants ”is specified in the note.
