A study of German views on Zionism
  • A third of Germans today correctly associate the term with the founding of a Jewish state. 

  • Almost 40 percent associate it with Jewish identity in general. 

  • For around 37 percent, the term has negative connotations.

  • A fifth of the German population can meanwhile nothing with the word Zionism.

ELNET determined these results as part of a survey representative of Germany . The survey was carried out by the market and opinion research institute CIVEY in May 2022. It was examined what the German population associates with the term Zionism. 2,500 people over the age of 18 took part in the online survey. Multiple entries were possible.
