Germany – Stumbling stones repeatedly smeared in Kreuzberg, Berlin

Kreuzberg, Berlin – On the 9th In June, residents discovered that a total of ten stumbling stones were smeared in a Kreuzberg residential area. The stones were sprayed with black paint so that some names were unreadable.

Already in June 2020, it was found that these ten stumbling blocks in the Dieffenbachstraße had been sprayed with black paint.

The stumbling stones are a mark of remembrance of those who were persecuted, deported and murdered during the time of National Socialism. Memorials such as stumbling stones are repeatedly becoming the subject of anti-Semitic property damage. The recurring incident indicates a targeted attack on this memorial.
