Germany – A memorial plaque for a Rabbi in Spandau was smeared

Spandau, Berlin – A memorial plaque for the Rabbi Arthur Löwenstamm in front of his former residence in Berlin district of Spandau was smeared and made unreadable.

In addition, the sprayed number “146” was discovered at the former residence of the Rabbi. This could be the extreme right-wing code „Auf den Führer“ (“To the leader”).

Rabbi Arthur Löwenstamm was the last Rabbi of the Jewish community in Spandau. On the 9th November 1938 the Spandau club synagogue was set on fire and he himself was deported to the Sachsenhausen Center.
