The Regional Council of Campania has adopted the IHRA working definition of antisemitism.
The vote, which was supported unanimously by all the members of the Regional Council of the Southern Italian region, was the result of an initiative by councillors Francesco Borrelli (Green Europe) and Diego Venanzoni (PD).
The President of the Jewish Community of Napoli, Lydia Schapirer expressed her satisfaction, as did the President of the Italy-Israel Federation Giuseppe Crimaldi.
“The Jewish Community of Naples welcomes with great pleasure the news of the adoption of the Ihra definition of anti-Semitism. An act of great significance and sensitivity,’ said Schapirer.
“A very important principle, and more topical than ever. A step of great civilisation’, Crimaldi thought.
