Ludo Eyckmans, the garage mechanic from Stabroek who recently announced that he would no longer receive Jewish customers, now receives, in addition to a complaint for antisemitism, the compelling request from the Volkswagen group to immediately stop communicating the logos of those companies. Volkswagen headquarters in Germany rejects the scandalous demarche of the garage owner in a response to Joods Actueel.

The press spokesperson for Volkswagen Germany said the following to our editors:

“Volkswagen Germany but also the Belgian importer, d’Ieteren, have no business relationship whatsoever with this man. Our company expressly distances itself from any form of discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, worldview, religion, gender, age, political opinion or social origin”.

Jean-Marc Ponteville of D’Ieteren Automotive also informed us: “to contact the garage with the request to stop the illegal use of the official logos of our brands”.

The garage owner defends himself by stating that the e-mail in question was not his. That’s a myth, of course, since the message was sent from his own email address (he hasn’t filed a hacking complaint). Furthermore, his personal details are mentioned as well as his mobile number. And finally, it also contains private information, such as about a previous job he performed for a company in Antwerp, information that an outsider does not know of course.

It is doubtful whether the man ever saw a Jewish customer in Stabroek. One thing is certain, even non-Jewish customers would do well to have their car serviced or purchased from an authorized dealer.
