Moscow – During the program “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov (Russian: Вечер с Владимиром Соловьёвым)” which was broadcast on 21.4.22 on the state channel “Russia 1”, Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the state channel RT, addressed the issue of “accusing Russia of antisemitism”.

According to her, this is a false claim intended to damage Russia’s image. After all, the word “pogrom” (riots), which originated in Russia, was intended to distort reality, since in the territory of Russia there were never riots or a negative attitude towards the Jews. According to her, the “Pale” of residence was invented by Catherine the Great, German in origin, riots against the Jews were carried out in the territory of Ukraine and the Baltic countries of today. Simonyan also stressed in particular that the last (she said) disturbances in the territory of the USSR occurred in Kiev in 1945, a convincing proof of the antisemitic character of the Ukrainian nation.

It should be noted that although the pogrom did take place in Kiev, among its initiators were also ethnic Russians who came to Kiev from the territory of Russia.
