USA – Homeless man smeared his blood on Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial

Miami Beach, FL – It is a place where people come to pay their respects to the six million Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust. But, according to an arrest report, 44-year-old Christopher Green, defaced a Holocaust memorial in Miami Beach.

According to police, several people witnessed Green at the memorial as he began to dig into his left forearm to make his arm bleed.

“The defendant then used his blood to smear it against the Holocaust museum wall. The defendant wrote numerous letters of the alphabet in his blood. The letters he wrote did not spell anything readable,” according to an arrest form.

The incident happened on Tuesday, April 12. Green left the scene, but he was arrested by police Thursday, April 14 after he was spotted walking east on the Macarthur Causeway.

According to the report, Green is homeless. He was charged with1 count of criminal mischief on a place of worship.

The Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is located at 1933-1945 Meridian Ave. It was established in 1984 by a small group of Holocaust survivors who joined together to develop a permanent memorial in Miami.

Their reaction to Green’s actions at the memorial? They say this is a sacred place where people come to remember lives lost. They say violence of any kind should not be tolerated.

Green appeared in court Friday where he was ordered to stay away from the memorial and the area of 1933 Meridian Ave. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
