In North Rhine-Westphalia, the police counted 206 antisemitic crimes in the first half of this year. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 60 of these occurred between May 10 and 21, when the Middle East conflict in North Rhine-Westphalia led to escalated protests and flag burnings, among other things.
The interior ministry initially stated the number of incidents in May to be 90 higher. The numbers have now been adjusted. Among other things, the suspicion of antisemitism was not confirmed in all cases, according to the Interior Ministry in its answer to a small question from the AfD in the state parliament. A total of 81 suspects were identified.
