Blauvet, New York – Christopher Rascoll, who sent antisemitic death threats to a Stratford resident for nearly a year pleaded guilty to a hate crime charge Tuesday.
Christopher Rascoll, 49 of Blauvet, New York, pleaded guilty to one count of interference with the right to fair housing, a hate crime, and a count of sending threatening messages before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley.
The threats, sent through text, voicemails and Facebook posts, began in November 2019 and continued through June 2020, investigators said. Rascoll threatened to blow up the individual’s home and car alongside anti-Semitic comments regarding the Holocaust, investigators added.
“On December 23, 2019, Rascoll sent a message that included the words ‘Suns about to go down. It would be a shame if your house were used to light the menorah. Or turned in a gas chamber,’ ” investigators said. “On April 8, 2020, Rascoll wrote ‘I’m going to kill you. You better be gone because if you’re in [the victim’s housing community] Easter weekend I’m going to stick you in an oven. Or I’m going to shoot you.’ ”
Rascoll was arrested on June 26 and has been detained since. He’s expected to be sentenced on July 27.
The charges against him carry a combined maximum imprisonment of 15 years.
