The Bronx, NY – An antisemitic vandal scrawled a swastika and the words “white power” in front of a Bronx criminal defense and civil rights lawyer’s office Tuesday afternoon.
Someone sprayed the vile image and words in white paint outside the offices of Getz & Braverman in Concourse about 2:30 p.m.
“We came in this morning, there was nothing,” said lawyer Mike Braverman, adding that by afternoon “my associate noticed there was a tag on one side, and that (the antisemitic graffiti) on the other side.”
Braverman said he’s not sure why his office was targeted.
“Well, I mean, Getz & Braverman, we are Jewish. I can’t say. There’s several Jewish lawyers up here, several,” he said. “We represent everybody. We represent all races, creeds, colors, for years. I’ve never experienced any antisemitism here in the Bronx.”
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating, a police spokeswoman said.
“I was shocked. It’s one thing to read reports of it, and be sickened seeing it in other places, but when there’s a swastika in front of your establishment, it’s heart-wrenching,” Braverman said.
