Township of south orange village – Authorities are investigating the source of antisemitic recruitment flyers and stickers for a New Jersey-based white supremacist group recently found in public locations in South Orange, officials said.
The village’s President Sheena Collum wrote in a letter Monday that the group, which she did not name, would be served legal notice and could face fines up to $1,000.
“We are saddened but unsurprised that they would promote such hate in a community committed to embracing diversity,” Collum wrote. “Such ugliness is intended to create fear and division among us, and our community will not allow this to happen.”
Photos on social media of one of the flyers found on a bulletin board identified the group as the New Jersey European Heritage Association.
South Orange Police Chief Kyle Kroll said NJ Transit is investigating the incident because it occurred on their property.
NJ Transit did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
“The Village will continue to monitor and remove any unauthorized materials that violate our Village Code. We appreciate our community’s ongoing assistance in cleaning up the trash,” Collum said.
