Paris – An investigation was opened after the damage found on several panels of an exhibition dedicated to Simone Veil at the Pantheon in Paris, police said Saturday.
The facts would have occurred “in the night of August 1st to 2nd”, said this source.
The panels of the exhibition, hung on the grids of the Pantheon, were scratched, some of a line, others of an X-shaped cross. These portraits of Simone Veil were not covered by any text or particular message.
The investigation was entrusted to the police station of the 5th arrondissement.
“I am horrified to learn that an investigation has been opened after the discovery of tags on portraits of Simone Veil, in the exhibition dedicated to him at the Pantheon. despicable”, responded the spokesman of the government, Benjamin Griveaux, on Twitter.
Former Minister of Health and former President of the European Parliament, Simone Veil died in June 2017 at the age of 89. In July, the remains of the former deportee, a figure of French political life, entered the Pantheon barely a year after his death.
