Highland Park woman receives antisemitic package

Highland Park, NJ – A Highland Park woman says that someone sent
her a package full of trash with antisemitic slurs written on it.

Elaine Dean says that she discovered the package in her front yard
Thursday morning. She said that the sealed box contained garbage and cigarette
butts.

Foul language and drawings of a swastika and a middle finger were
scrawled on the package.

Dean, who is Jewish, says that she called Highland Park police, who took
the package as evidence.

Dean says that she believes that the package is a form of retaliation.
She has received numerous noise complaints about her four dogs, which are
sometimes out in her yard. She says that the box also contained dog feces.

Highland Park has a large Jewish population. Dean says that something
like this can’t be tolerated.

“It means somebody is either
playing a sick joke or it’s going to continue,” she says. “I hope I’m not the
first to deal with this. I hope I’m the last.”

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is also involved in the
investigation.
