The RAXEN report tracks incidents of racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia, hatred of Gypsies, homophobia and other forms of intolerance. It has been published for the first time in 1995 following the attacks and murders committed by Neo-Nazi and racist groups and has over the years become an unprecedented data collection that enables investigation, analysis and also suggests preventive policies in the criminal field as well as support for victims.
The report raises the growing concern of international organizations (ONU-CERD, OSCE, Council of Europe and the European Union) defending human rights in the wake of the hate speech and the peak in extremist movements and parties that conduct racist, xenophobic, and antisemitic propaganda, with the goal of accelerating the elimination of democratic values.
Spain, despite its better condition than other European countries registered 500 racial, xenophobic or other acts of violence during 2016. The worrying signs continue in the provinces of Valencia (93 cases), Madrid (72), Catalonia (58), Andalucia (57), Castile-Leon (31), Aragon (27), the Balearic Islands, Murcia, the Basque region and Navarre (more than 20).
