A woman has been the victim of an Antisemitic attack on the street in Punta Carretas

Punta Carretas, Montevideo – A woman suffered serious injuries to her face and body after being attacked by a man in Punta Carretas.

The victim arrived at the police station to file a complaint claiming the motive behind the attack was Antisemitism.

Mirta has been in domestic service in a residential building in Punta Carretas for eight years. In this same building lives a man who had been violent towards her in the past, threatening her on occasion, a behavior which has become apparent again this past weekend.

Mirta has filed a complaint after each separate attack, including one time he had threatened her with a gun.

The man says he hates domestic workers because they are “servants” and because “they walk the Jews’ dogs and that he will kill us all”.

“He insulted me, telling me I am the servant of the Jews, that all Jews have to die, this is what he said,” she explained.

On Saturday afternoon, after Mirta had finished her work and gone to the bus station to wait for her bus home, she ran into him on the street, the man held her arm and hit her viciously, saying” “I told you I would kill you, you Jews’ servant.”

Attacking her, the man broke her teeth. Costumers who were in the Freddo ice cream shop at that moment came to her defense.
