Four skinheads were arrested for desecrating a monument to the Holocaust victims in Mogilev

The news agency Sputnik which relies on the Interior Ministry of Belarus reports that the police of Mogilev, Belarus, has arrested four students from a local college for desecrating the monument “commemorating the Jews of Mogilev who perished during the Holocaust”.

The act was carried out on Saturday November 19th when the vandals poured black paint on the monument. It was reported that only one of those arrested on suspicion of committing the crime is an adult.

The Interior Ministry reports that all suspects share an extreme right wing ideology and are members of the unofficial movement of skinheads in Mogilev. One of them was put on trial twice in the past for displaying Nazi symbols in public.

The Interior Ministry reported: “The vandals chose the place and the site in advance. For a month, the group studied the local sites and places important to the Jews, and chose the Sabbath to commit the act.”
