Grave of César Jaroslavsky desecrated with antisemitic graffitis

Victoria, Entre Ríos – During the morning
hours, four swastikas were
found on the grave of César Jaroslavsky, located in the cemetery of
Victoria, province of Entre Ríos. The swastikas were sprayed a few days before
the 22nd anniversary of the terror attack
against the buildings of the Argentine Jewish Mutual Aid Society (AMIA).

 

Former
Argentinian member of parlamient César Jaroslavsky, a confidant of former
Argentinian president Raúl Ricardo Alfonsín, is buried in the family grave with
his son, who was killed in the nineties in an accident that occurred in a
shooting range in Buenos Aires.

 

César Jaroslavsky
was a member of the local rural Jewish community in the province of Entre Ríos.
Beginning in 1948, he served as President of the Radical Youth Organization of
Argentina (Juventud Radical – JR), Director in the Central Bank of Argentina
(1956), Member of the District Parliament for the UCR del Pueblo party in
1958-1962 and 1963-1966, and over the course of his last mandate as a member of
the parliament he served as chairman of the his party’s faction.

 

Once
democracy had returned to Argentina in 1983, he was reelected to the National
Parliament of Argentina, and then again in 1987. He was a confidant of former
Argentinian president Raúl Alfonsín, and chaired the UCR faction during Alfonsín’s
presidency and onwards until 1991.
