A Promo
for a German TV documentary about education of children at the Palestinian
Authority for hatred and murder was strongly criticized after stating that children
in Israel are also educated this way. The program broadcasted by ZDF, one of
Germany’s public TV Networks. This channel is known for its anti-Israeli Board line.
In the
documentary titled “education for hate?,” promo that was broadcasted
last week it was stated: “how Israeli and Palestinian children are brought
to despise each other – and to become killers.” The Promo shows a
comparison between education for inciting and murder that Palestinian children
get to a similar education that allegedly takes place in Israel. Even though
the documentary shows clearly the educational system for hate and murder of Jews
only in the Palestinian side.
The
documentary does not claim that the Israeli education system teaches kids to
kill Arabs. However, it does speak about the negative presentation of Arabs in the textbooks in Israel. As an
example for the “racist education” against Arab population a drawing
taken from textbook in Hebrew which shows Arab sitting on a camel is presented.
Following the wave of protests, ZDF board removed the promo that
contained anti-Israeli content and apology message was posted, stating:
“the wording of the documentary message was shortened in a way that caused
misunderstandings. If anyone was offended of this wording, we ask forgiveness.
However, the storm following the promo
continues, especially due to the presence of anti-Israeli constant line of the
TV network board. The journal “bild” questioned: “is this a
mistake or a deliberate distortion of facts” resulting from anti-Semitic
background? Volker Beck, a Deutscher Bundestag on behalf of the Green Party,
one of the struggle against anti-Semitism leaders in the German Parliament,
tweet on Twitter: “dear ZDF, what is the background (of this promo)? do
You want to present yourself as ‘objective’ without take into account the
facts?”
Research institutes that examined in the past the content of news
programs broadcast of ZDF determined that the German television network reports
are biased against Israel regularly. Recently the network avoided reporting the
murder of the girl Hillel Yaffe Ariel in Kiryat Arba in its main news broadcasts.
The network does used to report injured Palestinians in Israeli operations.
