Antisemitic slur on publically viewable Wi-Fi hotspot

Crown
Heights, Brooklyn, NY
– A CrownHeights.info reader observed a nasty antisemitic
slur in the form of a publicly visible Wi-Fi hotspot while searching for an
internet connection in the heart of Jewish Crown Heights.

The
offending Wi-Fi hotspot, named “FuckingSmellyJews,” was observed near The
Marketplace, a kosher supermarket on Kingston Ave.

The
reader contacted the 71st Precinct to report it as a possible hate crime, but
the police informed him that although it is in poor taste, the slur does not
violate any law and is in fact protected by the first amendment.
