Livingstone appeared on radio station LBC on Saturday morning, taking part in a
circuitous conversation with hosts David Mellor and Michael Crick.
Mellor
introduced Livingstone, saying that in defending Bradford West MP Naz Shah, Mr
Livingstone had “thrown himself into a deep pit alongside her.”
Over
the next 30 minutes, Mellor and Crick gave the former London mayor numerous
opportunities to apologise for his recent controversial comments. He repeatedly stated he “wished he
hadn’t” said them – but continued to defend his remarks.
