2015 Antisemitism report in French-speaking Switzerland (Suisse Romande)

For 12 consecutive years, CICAD publishes its annual report
on anti-Semitism in Western Switzerland. Beyond the actions listed, CICAD
offers a detailed analysis of the situation and specific recommendations to
deal with this issue.

With 164 incidents recorded, 2015 has been one of the years
in which the highest number of antisemitic incidents has been registered since
2003, despite a significant drop compared to 2014 when 271 events were
registered.

In 2015, the majority of reported cases related to serious
violent antisemitic insults on media sites. These perpetrators are mostly
under the age of 20.

At the same time, although you can notice a slight
improvement about the messages posted on the media, the number of hate speeches
remain high (88 events).

More worrying, is that unfortunately, too many people use
social networks as hiding places for a large number of antisemitic or racist
activists (25 events). Behind a false anonymity, individuals aimed their
remarks mainly on issues related to Holocaust denial, the myth of a Jewish
conspiracy or blaming the Jews for the Middle East conflict.
